Name & Number Identification

The large two-line display on the C3060 lets you see at a glance who is calling, giving you the freedom to handle calls as you choose. You can decide which calls to answer immediately, and which ones to let pass into voicemail. Users can also quickly call back the last two persons who called by using the last call log softkey. Visual Message Waiting

When you miss a call, a message on the display to lets you know if voice mail messages are waiting for you. Enhanced Message

You can access your voice mail with the touch of a softkey, and then use the labeled softkeys to navigate your mailbox without having to remember complicated dial commands. Call Notification

Call Notification on the C3060 can be customized to ring normally (full), ring only once (chirp) or not ring at all (silent). The ring once option means the phone is still ringing, only you just hear the first ring. This is ideal for times when you prefer not to be distracted by a ringing phone, but want the option of answering a call. Ring options include five distinct tone patterns and five different volume levels. Vibrating Alerter

The built-in vibrating alerter can be set to on or off independently of the ringing options, so you never have to worry about missing an important call in noisy environments or when you'd rather not disturb others. Directory

A new feature offered with the C3060, the Service Directory stores up to 15 Wireless Computer Telephony Integration (WCTI) application access codes, or telephony host or Private Branch Exchange (PBX) feature codes (call forward, call park, page and ring-again). Access is possible to both custom developed WCTI applications, as well as Prepackaged WCTI applications such as Information View. The same key that accesses the Services Directory can also access a WCTI server based menu of applications, avoiding the need to program the access codes on each handset. It is also possible to use the Services Directory as a separate directory for important or emergency numbers. 100 Item Telephone Directory

The scrollable directory allows users to store up to 100 names/numbers and feature codes. Adding a new directory entry for a caller while online is as simple as a single key press if the display shows the person's name and number. The Telephone directory, like the Services directory can, also provides access to advanced WCTI, PBX system or telephony host features. Soft Keys

Three programmable softkeys allow convenient, one-touch access to the three host feature codes or items you access most often. The three softkeys can also be customized for a different function during a call (active state) than when the phone is not in use (idle state). Softkey labels appear in the display for quick reference. Headset Options

The C3003 Headband and C3001 Ear-bud Headsets, lets you maximize your freedom by having both hands free to do routine and technical tasks while you talk. Additional headset options for unique environment applications are available from Nortel Networks' Business Affiliate Partners. Mute

Mute allows users to turn off a Companion Portable's microphone so the other party cannot hear the user speak. This key also lets you silence the alerter of a ringing or vibrating phone, if you chose not to answer the call. Loud Environment Mode

A new Loud Environment Mode is engaged when the Volume is adjusted to settings 9, 10, and 11. In addition to providing greater volume when in this mode, the C3060 specifically tunes the audio performance to make conversations easier to understand when the user is in an environment with loud background noise. Security

The Companion Portable Telephone offers several levels of security: Digital Communications - prevents eavesdropping. Registration - eliminates unauthorized system access. De-Registration - enables a system administrator to prevent system access from lost or stolen Portable Telephones. Power Consumption

The C3060's low power consumption maximizes battery life, giving you more talk and standby time. When fully charged, the portable phone can be used throughout a normal working day without recharging. The C3060 offers a choice of two different battery options: Commercial AAA alkaline batteries with the C3060 Battery Clip Rechargeable Universal Battery Pack (NiMH 600mAH) - Utilizes heavy-duty industrial grade Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) cell technology for extended duty use. Battery Charging

The Companion C3060 Portable Battery Pack can be recharged with the Individual Charger (single battery charger for personal use) or the Group Charger (six battery charger for share or shift type workers). Each of these chargers has been designed to provide greater flexibility in adapting to user needs and working environments. Both chargers provide the following key benefits: Advanced charging algorithms, sophisticated battery diagnostics, enhanced electrical contact reliability.

Companion Controllers

The Controller is the heart of the Companion System. It is the interface between your existing telephone system (host system) and the Portable Telephones. Depending on which system you already have, the Controller may be a separate unit or a card installed within your existing telephone equipment. The Controller supports Portable Telephones and radio Base Stations. The number of Portable Telephones and Base Stations the Controller can support is determined by the Companion System you choose.

The Companion System prevents unauthorized access by requiring every Portable Telephone to be registered on the System. During the registration process, the Controller matches unique identifiers for the System and the Portable Telephones. Each time someone places a call, the Controller verifies these identifiers. In the event a portable is lost or stolen, the System administrator can immediately bar, or de-register that portable.

Authorized Access

A Companion System may be programmed with an Administration Terminal wired into the first port of the Controller card. Or, a Meridian Companion System may be programmed by connecting a PC to the System and running Companion Manager software. Programming

Continuous roaming enables Companion Portable Telephone users to activate host system features and to make and receive calls anywhere within the facility. A call can be set up as long as the: Portable is turned on,
user is within range of a Base Station and the
Base Station has a free radio channel.
Call Setup

The host telephone system provides dial tone and call features, and also establishes the call path that enables Portable Telephone users to carry on a conversation. The following illustration demonstrates how the Companion System establishes a call, within milliseconds, between two Portable Telephones within a specified coverage area. (In this example, user #1 initiates a call When user #1 dials user #2's phone number, a radio link is established between user #1 and the nearest available Base Station. The Base Station notifies the Companion Controller which locates user #2 and delivers the call to a Base Station near user #2. When user #2's phone rings, the conversation may begin.

Companion C200 Controller

The Companion C200 System works with any host system that supports standard analog (2500-type) lines and requires one dedicated 2500-port on the host for each Portable Telephone. The following host systems are compatible with the Companion C200 System: Lucent Definity and Merlin * Meridian 1/SL-1/SL-100Meridian Digital Centrex * Mitel SX2000, SX200, SX50NEC NEAX * Rolm 9000 Series * Toshiba Perception Norstar Key System (non-modular ICS).

The Base Station provides the high quality, digital radio link enabling people to make and receive calls from Companion Portable Telephones.

Features

Dual Antenna for best reception
Simple, efficient installation
Hand-off provides seamless coverage
Up to 8 simultaneous calls in a cell
One system covers 10 million sq. ft
Modular system grows with you
Optional exterior coverage
Powered centrally through regular telephone wiring Best Reception

Base Stations, which are inconspicuously mounted on ceilings and walls, contain radio transceivers which transmit calls to and from the Portable Telephones. Base Stations sample reception on its antenna and continually switch to the one with the best reception to ensure optimum audio quality. Simple, Efficient Installation

Because the Base Stations exchange call information with the Controller through standard twisted-pair telephone wiring, they are simple to install and maintain. Our precise Base Station deployment process ensures that the coverage area you specify is fully covered with maximum efficiency. Seamless Coverage

Base Stations are strategically located throughout the building to form individual pockets of radio coverage called cells. The Base Stations within the different overlapping cells communicate with each other to provide seamless, continuous coverage throughout the coverage area you specify. Capacity

Each Companion Base Station supports two simultaneous calls and can be grouped with up to three additional Base Stations in a single cell to form a higher call capacity cell. One Companion System can support several hundred users in a 10 million sq.ft. Area. Larger applications can combine multiple systems for potentially unlimited coverage. Grows With You

Larger applications can combine multiple systems for potentially unlimited coverage. As the number of users or coverage area increases, more Base Stations can be added. This means growth is modular and cost effective. Optional Exterior Coverage

Base Stations usually provide sufficient coverage with their built-in antennas. In some instances, however, external antennas may be required to extend the coverage area. An outdoor, omni-directional antenna provides coverage outside a building as well as through windows. An indoor, directional antenna increases coverage in hard-to-reach places Power

A Remote Power Interconnect (RPI) Unit provides the Companion Wireless Communications system with a number of economic and service advantages.
The RPI eliminates the need to install costly ceiling outlets when a commercial power source is not nearby.
The RPI can be powered from a centralized Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), reducing the cost to provide continuous power to each Base Station.
The RPI utilizes standard twisted-pair wiring to the Base Station, eliminating the need for electricians. Maximize Your Mobility

Whether conducting high mobility tasks, or just walking the corridor, a holster or glove provides enhanced comfort and freedom of movement for you and enhanced security for your Portable Telephone. And handsfree operation gives you the added ability to search through shelf stock while talking to a customer, take inventory with a handheld data terminal, or record information and take notes as you talk.

C3050 Holster

Custom-designed for the Companion C3050 Portable Telephone, the C3050 holster provides a convenient way to carry your phone, especially if your clothing lacks a pocket or a belt. It also supports handsfree operation with the C3001 or C3002 headset. The holster is crafted from a durable composite material and features an adjustable belt clip. It cradles the Companion C3050 telephone between two side wings, leaving the headset jack on the bottom of the telephone accessible for handsfree operation. Two 3/4 inch wide straps are included to provide several options for wear. A long strap with two sliding adjustments and a quick-release buckle allows you to create a shoulder strap or a waist belt. The adjustable clip can be rotated to any of 5 positions, allowing the holster to attach to straps, belts or other items at the most convenient angle. Gripper teeth in the clip secure the holster in the selected position.

C3050 Rugged Protector

The Rugged Protector is a rugged clip-on holster designed to protect the C3050 Portable Telephone in physically demanding environments where it is subjected to extremely heavy use. The Rugged Protector surrounds the back and sides of the portable telephone with gray rubber reinforced with a strong plastic skeleton. The face of the telephone is open for full access to the earpiece, display, and dialpad. Raised sides guard against impact on the face of the telephone. The protector has a strap opening so it can be tethered to clothing or a fixed point. When clipped on a belt, the telephone hangs upside down, allowing the user to tilt the telephone up to read the display without having to remove it. While the telephone is in the Rugged Protector, volume, mute, and ringer controls, as well as the headset jack, are all fully accessible. The telephone must be removed from the protector to access the battery pack.
